Sandpoint Satellite's President, Leonard Hess, started installing C-band satellite antennas in 1981 for Kittlevision in Northern California. Has personally installed thousands of commercial and residential satellite systems. He Lived in Sandpoint from 1960 to 1976, graduated from SHS, attended college at NIC in Coeur d'Alene as a music major until 1978.

Leonard worked for PG&E in California as an apprentice lineman from 1978-1981 then the stint with Kittlevision, back to PG&E, returned to Sandpoint in 1984, worked for Karli's/Telesat until 1985, then worked for Satcom Systems as lead field tech until 1997 with periods of other employment during that time relating to the communications industry. 

In 1997 Leonard Hess formed Hesstronics, incorporated in 2000, opened Sandpoint Satellite retail outlet in October 2001.
